System One Travel (Greater Manchester Travelcards Limited – GMTL) was launched in 1994 in response to local customer demand for multi-operator, multi-mode transport ticketing options.
System One Travelcards (GMTL) is co-owned by Greater Manchester’s private bus, rail and tram operators and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
Outside London, the “System One Travelcards” product range is the largest integrated multi-operator ticketing scheme in the UK.
In February 2006, local PayPoint shops across Greater Manchester started selling the 7 and 28 day Bus Savers for adults, young persons and children. There are more than 800 PayPoint shops across Greater Manchester, making it more convenient than ever to buy your bus travel.
In 2011, the website was redesigned and functionality upgraded to sell E-Bus Savers, thus offering customers additional purchasing flexibility.
In 2015, GMTL and TfGM developed a multi operator, multi modal smart ticketing scheme under the brand name get me there. Launched in November 2015 with bus products first, the work to grow the products available on smart continues today.
All the major local and regional bus companies, including Arriva, First and Stagecoach, accept System One and get me there. This means customers can travel seamlessly across Greater Manchester, hopping on and off as many buses as they want to.
