Out And About This Easter? Hop Aboard!

Spring has sprung and Easter is on its way. Hooray!

Bank Holidays are a notoriously busy time on Greater Manchester’s roads but you shouldn’t let that put you off having fun in the spring sunshine. Why not take the stress out of driving or cycling and join other savvy bunnies by hopping aboard one of the many buses that cover our region?

From Altrincham to Bury, Oldham to Wigan, there’s plenty of Easter fun to be had in and around Manchester, and regular bus services to get you there. With planned road closures due to events and maintenance, it would be wise to use public transport and let someone else take the strain whenever road diversions crop up.

Use the TfGM route explorer to help you plan your bus journey, remembering that bank holiday timetables for travel on Friday 14th and Monday 17th of April will vary from the usual weekday bus times. Simply select the bank holiday option from the drop-down menu.

Make your plans run even smoother with a System One Group DaySaver travelcard, allowing up to five people (two adults and three children aged under 16 yrs) to travel on as many buses as you like from the early hours until 4am the following morning. Better news is that this fun-filled day’s travel will only cost £11 for the whole gang, even on a bank holiday!

A Group DaySaver travelcard will allow for any last minute changes to your schedule so you can hop on and off any bus, and stop as long as you like at as many events as you like, making the most of your time with family and friends.

So, choose your destination, buy your travelcard from the bus driver, at a PayPoint shop or TfGM Travelshop and away you go…

To get you in the mood, here are just a few of our favourite events in the region this Easter bank holiday weekend:

Go Quackers!

With surprise celebrity guests egging on thousands of yellow plastic ducks, the 8th annual Manchester Duck Race promises to be a blast from beginning to end. Buy your own duck for just £1 and then cheer it down the River Irwell, fro the start at Spinningfields. You never know, could be a lucky ducky and clinch the title!

There’ll also be a petting zoo, fairground rides and loads of other activities with proceeds going to local children’s charity, Brainwave. Your chance to be a good egg all round!

Get Eggs-cited!

If your gang are all aged over 13, why not test your skill and reasoning at the new Crystal Maze located in the old Granada Studios. But be quick, there are just a few slots still available for gold ticket-grabbing teams bank holiday Monday.

Don’t worry if you can’t squeeze into the Crystal Maze at Easter, you can book for later in the year. Instead, try tracking down more treasures at one of our region’s many Easter Egg Hunts.

Yes, we know Diversity won BGT and not X-Factor, but that didn’t quite fit in with our theme! The celebrated dance troupe are headed Manchester way this April, so for an evening full of jaw-dropping dance moves, get yourselves down to Manchester Arena for Diversity’s Genesis tour on Easter Sunday.

After a show full of jumps, stunts and sleek routines, you’ll be hip-hoppin’ all the way back to the bus stop, for a safe journey home.
